What would you do?

You’re sent to a town centre location, single crewed, to reports of a male who has contacted Police, advising that he is going to ‘harm people’.

You arrive to meet an intoxicated male, obviously ranting about his previous convictions to you, and blaming you for everything that has gone wrong in his life.

You’re trying to talk him round; trying to find out ANY way to help him. You notice that this male won’t take one of his hands out of one of his pockets. He’s obviously winding himself up for ‘something’. Suddenly, he shouts something about you “HAVING ANOTHER RAOUL MOAT ON YOUR HANDS.”

You’re by yourself, about two feet away, with backup a few minutes away. You have no Tazer, just spray and a baton.

What would you do?

    Use the spray and baton.

This intelligent posting deserved better than a theatrical bandage. A delightful confusion of expert and cowboy views is guaranteed, Policeboy.

If you are 2 feet away you are MUCH too close for spray or baton – not enough time to deploy either. So either a bloody good shove in the chest to create distance and allow use of the above, or (bearing in mind the Moat statement and I’m assuming a concern of a firearm being involved) grab his arm and strike him, hard, somewhere it will hurt him A LOT so you can shout up for assistance.

Either way it’s going to get messy but it sounds like pre-emptive would be easily justifiable and the safer way to go.

    Just my views.

Increase your safe distance to several feet. Make loud verbal commands to tell the subject to get back in order to draw witness attention to the situation, repeat this command a well as telling the subject loudly to feet his hands out of his pocket. Draw baton in a low profile draw and command subject not to approach you “KEEP BACK”, take defensive stance, if that fails rack baton, repeat “STAY BACK” and use baton on fleshy parts of arm or leg to incapacitate… Manage your witnesses and show them your actions were forced. CS may not work if he is drunk… PLAN for human rights ;) remember?

    well… as I don’t carry a baton or CS I would do what I normally do…

I would try to get a dialog going to get to his problem.

If he attacks me or someone else… I will attempt to stop him.

Excuse my straying from topic to mention a serving woman police constable of the highest integrity. Had it not been for this brave officer, yet another miscarriage of justice would have been orchestrated – courtesy of her corrupt male colleagues.

There will be neither praise nor compliments for her on police blogs because she is PC Rachel Webb, the courageous woman who ‘dobbed in’ that piece of garbage, Sgt Mark Andrews.

As if his main deed was not bad enough, nauseating attempts to cover up his crime have emerged during his trial.

Collusion by officer ‘mates’ led to perjury in the witness box and these officers did all they could to compromise the case with deceit and lies. Their evidence obliged the trial judge to refer the liars back to their own Chief Constable.

We citizens have seen many attempts by rogue police to compromise justice and there are ‘no lessons learned’. In UK courts today, police officers will lie on oath to clear themselves and defeat Justice. Our entire Judicial System has been brought into disrepute by prevalent corruption.

In general we are no longer served by police, save for the brave ‘few’ and I express fears for reprisals against PC Rachel Webb. Moves may have already been devised to stain by any means, her shining 24 carat character and future career prospects.

I merely ask of our politicians, “When will the much overdue purge of uniformed criminals and traitors, begin?”
